Why I Accept the Bible on Faith

I've always thought that my faith was sorely lacking. But I believe that the Bible has to be truly of God because of how it applies to everyone down through the ages. I believe it is true because I can't see any other way for it to have been written so perfectly without divine inspiration. Countless people have poured over it for two thousand years. The message that it teaches is timeless. The gospel about Jesus applies to you and me just as easily as it applied to those in His time. And the beauty of the words, especially the Psalms are unsurpassed even in our modern poetry. The O.T. stories pictured the Messiah to come. It's impossible for so many different authors in so many different languages to have put it together meaningfully without being led by Jesus. The Bible directly relates to all aspects of the human condition: our failings, our need for Him, and the direction humanity has taken two thousand years later.

I used to question the validity of the Bible and I started reading apologetic things, but I found them to be hollow. Spirituality without faith in the Creator doesn't make your soul and your heart soar. Questions without answers only leave you questioning more. You can only feel the closeness of Jesus and the comfort He provides when you are aware of His Spirit inside you and know that faith is the bridge between us and Him.

The words, Jesus Christ the Messiah (The Anointed One) is just beautiful. There's a list in my concordance of all the names Jesus has been known by in the Bible. There are 134! I like "Alpha and Omega" (the beginning and the end), "Beloved" (Vernon McGee calls us that and it makes me feel special), and "Merciful." Whenever I think about His sacrifice for us it causes me to feel closer to Him again. It is hard to understand the depth of love that exists for us. His love was there long before we were created because it was foretold prophetically beginning in the Garden of Eden. It is a process humanity needed to go thru from the beginning of the ages because we need to all learn how very much He loved us. "The greatest of these is love." (I Cor. 13:13) That just makes my heart sing. It is so true and the gift I wish for the most.

"Salvation doesn't rest on whether you can prove the Bible. It rests on the power of God."
