I am a WCG and also a Philadelphia
Church of God survivor. I grew up into the entangling,
controlling cult that was the Worldwide
Church of God. My grandmother, the person who reared
me, was an Armstrongite to the hilt. I noticed even at a young age that
no toleration existed in the WCG (or the PCG, for that matter) for behaviour that did not match their controlling, money-hungry system.
I grew up in fear of God, not in friendship, and I believe that I am
scarred to this day from my experiences in these "churches."
When my grandmother joined the PCG after HWA's death, things became even
more interesting. I tried to hold onto and embrace the hard-line
doctrines as espoused by the Edmond "prophet" [Gerald
Flurry], even going so
far as to live in Edmond, Oklahoma for some time after I reached numerical
adulthood.
For those who are thinking of joining---please think of what you are
getting yourself into. Certain people and families in the headquarters
region are treated with certain high regard, while others are not
treated with the decency that you would reserve for an animal. The
situation at the top is abysmal. Members are often criticized for not
giving enough money or not being willing to "die for God."
My faith has been completely shattered, and I blame myself partially;
however, I place much of the blame where it belongs--at the feet of the
leaders of these two "churches."

Note from ESN:
Child survivors were taught a false god and this has served to destroy the
faith of many. However, the true Jesus cares deeply about what has
happened and is able to take the shattered pieces of any life and heal the
mend heart. Read:
