What's New

Ron Fraser Back in PCG:

January 2, 2008

One of my contacts (not sticking to the PCG no-contact ruling) has just told me that Ron Fraser is now back at PCG services. Gerald Flurry brought him back only two weeks after the announcement of his suspension. [Read Dec. 2007 letter to ESN: Three Big Announcements] Flurry must have either realized his worth or else he would have seen that having Fraser on the outside would cause irreparable damage on the inside. Flurry cannot afford more losses after recently losing so many ministers, deacons and members. Why would Flurry announce someone's suspension? I was a long time WCG and PCG member and I cannot remember suspensions ever being announced, not even when the church was "off track" in the 70's. Is this Flurry's new way of humiliating his ministers (and members) that don't tow the line? --Former member of WCG and PCG

The Return of Ron Fraser:

January 8, 2008

Ron Fraser is now back "in the fold" and I wonder if he will be as highly thought of now. People won't have the same respect for him now that they know GRF is not pleased with him. It must have been a big sin. GRF, for whatever reason, puts his ministers out for awhile and they are never the same. It seems as though GRF likes to either degrade them, like Dennis Leap and Alex Harrison, by taking their high profile status away, as one person put it "to give them a slap" or put them out so that all the brethren know they are "out of favour." This is GRF playing power or mind games again. Ron Fraser, like Dennis Leap, will be confined to an office just writing. GRF will keep them away from ministering but will have to keep them on because: (A) they know too much and (B) they are good writers. Ron Fraser will always tow the line cause GRF employs most of his family; he won't want to upset things there. But no doubt GRF will be looking to retire him as soon as he can. That will happen when the youngsters have been trained well enough to take over. I don't think Frank Borg is back though. No one has seen him. His "sin" must have been greater than Ron Fraser's! --X WCG, X PCG

Comment: Members are taught that suspensions are "a form of correction," but suspensions that are announced are also a public humiliation. Humiliation, guilt, shame, and fear are methods used by Flurry to cause members to do what he demands. Update: Dennis Leap is now "director of public relations for PCG."

Jacob Toews Resigned From Board Due to Corruption:

January 26, 2008

This is in regard to Jacob Toews in Canada being marked last December (read letter: Three Big Announcements in PCG).

Toews was appointed to be on a board of directors that the PCG formed to run its taxation and financial dealings. (This was to comply with the Canadian tax and charity laws.) He attended one meeting and resigned because he saw it was corrupt and just an intent to comply with the laws. He also said that the PCG is being audited by the tax department in Canada, South Africa and England. As a result, he did a lot of thinking and left the PCG. A few days later he received a letter from Headquarters telling him he was "suspended and marked." Gerald Flurry makes the rules now. Toews has now gone with Restored Church of God. --Informer in Canada

Comment: To see the horrific spiritual abuse and exploitation going on in RCG read ESN's: Exposé of "Clarion Call—The Time is Now!" (Pt. 2) (Includes excerpts from "The 1335 Days—What Most Will Never Hear" - Pt. 1).

PCG Inflated Tithe Receipt:

January 29, 2008

I'd say that Mr. Toews was correct in his assumption about the state of affairs in the PCG's financial department. Last year, my member mate's tithe receipt from PCG headquarters was inflated over $1000 (even he said it was wrong). --T. F.

Your Site Changed My Life For the Better:

February 3, 2008

Thanks for your help and support over the years. I was real glad when I found this site as it has changed my life for the better. I have lots more money now and am out of debt, too. It is nice to be free from man. I hope you are well. --Australia

Ministerial Updates:

February 8, 2008

I spoke to someone who attended Sabbath Services in Edmond during the PCG ministerial conference last month. It is true that Ron Fraser and his son Gareth are both back in the PCG as non-active ministers; however, I noticed that there are none of Fraser's articles posted on the PCG website. Flurry probably allowed him back to deflect criticism, but is still making sure that Ron Fraser feels the sting of his whip. Why he would humiliate one of the better assets he had is anyone's guess. The region that was being looked after by Ron Fraser has now been given to Alex Harrison. I also heard that Dennis Leap has been reinstated into the ministry.

Other ministers who are usually at the PCG conference such as Frank Garcia and Serafin Icasiano were conspicuously absent this time. Does anyone know what has become of these ministers? --Ex WCG/PCG member

Herman Barkei, Walter Barkei and Serafin Icasiano:

February 10, 2008

This may be a late update but it's in response to the Feb 8 letter above. In mid 2007, it was announced at Sabbath Services that Mr. Herman Barkei (Preaching Elder in the North East), was suspended, Mr. Serafin Icasiano (New Jersey LCE), stripped of his ministerial duties, and Mr. Walter Barkei (New Jersey LCE) resigned his ministerial position. Soon thereafter, Mrs. Herman Barkei was suspended as well.

After the Feast of Tabernacles, Mr. and Mrs. Icasiano are no longer attending services (believed to have been suspended). According to their son, it's all just a big "misunderstanding." Herman Barkei, while suspended, made an appearance at his son's wedding on November 4. Walter Barkei had been attending on and off since the Feast, supposedly due to health problems. Last Sabbath, it was reported that he just died earlier in the week and has been cremated. Since no announcement had been made previously, it was assumed that he either left for good or was also suspended, as he just kind of went MIA, until news of his death. --Informer

Info on the Barkeis is True:

February 11, 2008

It is true that the Barkeis are out of PCG. Walter (the unmarried one) has died. Nathan Barkei (Herman Barkei's son), is still attending. Herman was suspended first. Walter got very upset and left. Then finally Mrs. Barkei was also suspended before Walter died.

When we were railroaded out, I believe the congregation was told that we had "personal problems" that we were working on. That way every member could use their own imaginations and blow up any problem they ever had with us all out of proportion.  --[name withheld]

Gerald Flurry Now Tying in the Books of Chronicles With Revelation:

February 11, 2008

A sermon that had been given by Gerald Flurry at the ministerial conference at headquarters was played at services this past Sabbath. The sermon was over two hours long, and still wasn't played in its entirety. GF is now tying the books of First and Second Chronicles in with Revelation to make it "end-time prophecy." Personally, I'm wondering if GF will begin trying to make the Table of Contents and the Concordance into "end-time prophecy." It's beginning to look like he's scraping the bottom of the barrel for material to call "new revelation." -- S. L.

Flurry Appealing For More Money:

March 7, 2008

PCG members received a 5 or 6 page letter from their HQ toward the end of February. It was an appeal from GF for more money for the new "House for God." (Reminded me of HWA's co-worker letters for his "House for God")

In this co-worker letter, Flurry wants members to write in an X dollar amount that they are willing to pledge to paying the debt for the "house for God" as he says the PCG has borrowed the money for the project; then members are to return this pledge to headquarters. He also states something to the effect that members should not pledge an amount that they are not comfortable with, or an amount that isn't realistic. He also says that members will not be held rigidly to this pledge amount; that it is just that the church needs an estimate of what members are projected to contribute.

But, when I read this, I immediately thought to myself that the truth is that members are going to hear (as with all other PCG projects) loud, boisterous, sermons building up their egos, making them feel part of a special "called-out" group, encouraging them to "give until it hurts" and telling them that no amount is too much for "God's church." Many members will also feel that since the "time to flee" to Petra is surely nearer each day, what does it matter what debts they have, since they will be gone, anyway. Members will be made to feel guilty for doing anything less than their best. --S. L.

Ministers Who Burden the Flock:

March 8, 2008

I remember a few years back when we where in the PCG they sent out pledge cards to everyone as well. We never sent ours in. I thought that was rude of them. Here we are struggling to make it day to day and they burden the people wanting more and more. God speaks of ministers who burden their flock. He hates these ministers who do that to His people. We were in the PCG for 10 years and have seen a lot. My feeling is let all the ministers work without a wage for a few months and they will have all the money they need. They get their free housing and free food at the college cafeteria and free day care at headquarters, so surely they can let their pay can go for a few months to help the church out. When I saw the homes that these ministers get and how I have to live in a dump to just make it, it appalled me. --Former member of PCG

PCG Ministers Have No Clue How to Live By Faith:

March 8, 2008

The PCG ministers get a lot of "freebies." Yet they dare to tell us members that "we don't live by faith" if we don't tithe, send in a pledge, etc. We're the ones living by faith from paycheck to paycheck. They have no clue how to live that way. --North Carolina

Frank Borg Has Gone With Church of God's Faithful:

March 10, 2008

One of my relatives in the Church of God's Faithful told me that Robert Ardis, the Pastor General, announced that Mr. Frank Borg resigned from the PCG, and last Sabbath Ardis read out the resignation letter he sent to Gerald Flurry. Frank Borg is now a CGF member and minister. I don't know what is happening with his wife. It must be hard for her with two children and her father being Winston Davis and her brother being Brian Davis. I bet Mr. Flurry, "That Prophet" didn't see this coming when he ordained Mr. Borg! I know that a few PCG members are in touch with those in the CGF. The church grapevine is still very active! --Former WCG and PCG member

Update: Frank Borg started his own split in 2009: Faithful Church of God in Laodicea.

These People Are the Same Old, Same Old:

March 13, 2008

I know (or I should say I knew) Frank Borg and Sandra (Davis) Borg and Brian Davis and Winston and Cheryl Davis and Robert Ardis pretty well. I was actually baptized by Ardis in 1995 and Winston Davis used to be my minister. I had spent the night at Winston's a few different times down in Lake City, SC and knew Brian and Sondra well. I could tell you guys lots of stuff about those days but I guess I shouldn't in public. Back then Sondra was still single and Brian was not an ordained anything and Winston was a logger. Gordon Davis was still alive too (Winston's dad).

It never ceases to amaze me that these people are still at the same old, same old. I have long since moved on and frankly hardly even think about the cults anymore. But when I read about names I know, it all comes rushing back. I was never as unhealthy as when I was in the PCG cult and honestly I was never as stressed out either. Hopefully Frank Borg will smarten up and leave the Ardis cult too. But I fear that most of these people after a while stay in these cults just to make a living. What else do they know? I mean can you imagine Gerald Flurry doing anything else at this point? Hardly. He and all of the "ministers" who are used to getting their handouts will always find enough reason to believe as they do.

Happy to be free, from NC [name withheld by request]

PCG a Money-Making Racket:

April 3, 2008

I can understand the fears of some who have family in PCG. Unfortunately, with the controlling COG's being so secretive, imaginations run wild (even mine has in the past). Thanks to your clear-headed and the information on ESN, though, I'm not panicky and worrying about a Jonestown or Waco scenario. The bottom line is, the PCG is a money-making racket for the upper-ups at headquarters, mimicking methods of mind and people-control. Once one realizes what the PCG and other Armstrong groups truly are, the more their mind will be at ease. --Have a loved one in PCG

Have No Choice But to Mourn and Go On:

April 4, 2008

I am aware that there are two families in Tasmania who lost children and grandchildren to PCG. It was actually 3 or 4 years ago (there are only a small number of members in Tasmania anyway). As a result, they suffered health problems, but all four of them are getting on with their life now. They have the occasional down day, as you would expect. But they have put it behind them. Of course, all of them would like their family back, but it has been nearly 4 years and they have done the mourning and are moving on--mainly because they have no choice. In their darkest hours (a few years ago) they did wonder about a Waco type scenario. But since then, they don't consider it likely. All Flurry wants is power and money. He will get neither if he does anything else. --Australia

I Applaud You For Taking a Stand and Offering  a Helping Hand:

April 5, 2008

I was born into the WCG, then moved into the PCG after my parents decided they no longer believed in what they were teaching there. I was forced to attend PYC (youth camp) for two years in my teens. I've been out of the PCG for over ten years now and I still have nightmares about it (being back at services, or at the summer camp). I never realized how many issues in my life were connected to the fear that I had made the wrong choice; that I had somehow doomed myself. I applaud you for taking a stand and offering a helping hand to those of us who have been severely wounded by these "churches." I look forward to making contact with others with the same feelings I've dealt with alone for so many years. --Child survivor of WCG and PCG

Max Rumler Loses Big Tithe Payer in Australia:

April 5, 2008

Max Rumler managed to lose one of the biggest tithe payers in Australia for the PCG last feast. I bet that went down well! He had multiple disagreements with this person, suspended him for almost a year (but not his wife); then had another verbal disagreement, so the person finally told Max where to stick the PCG. I doubt lack of his money would go unnoticed and I doubt it got Max a brownie point. -- Australia

Micki Campbell Dies:

April 6, 2008

An announcement was made one week ago that Mrs. Marvin Campbell had died of an "intestinal blockage." The announcement was confirmed by the Philadelphia News.

Members were shocked by the unexpected news. They had not received a request for prayer prior to her death. I do not know if the condition may have appeared quickly and then deteriorated rapidly.

The members have been comparing her death to that of Loma Armstrong. It is dangerous to be a minister's wife in the PCG, or any of the other controlling splinters, such as David Pack's RCG. Though many people may know of the death of Mrs. Gerald Flurry on September 5, 2004 and the recent death of Mrs. David Pack (RCG) on July 22, 2007, there are other deaths less well known. In fact, I have known personally of several wives of ministers and deacons who have died of several forms of cancer, or various illnesses and maladies. --Former Member WCG/ PCG

Ways I Suffered Spiritually Because of PCG:

May 1, 2008

Thank you for writing. I accessed your site and really received helpful information. I had noticed that even though I didn't join PCOG, their literature left a "filter" in my mind through which everything seems to flow. Even reading daily devotional books like The Daily Bread made mental comments pop up like "there is no 3rd person in the trinity" or "grace isn't totally free, you have to obey or God won't bless you" or "celebrating Christmas is sinful." I'm thankful that God is helping me recognize these thoughts when they pop up, and to replace the "filter" with the truth of His Word. As I read your information, more things come to light about just how damaging even a little bit of this propaganda can be, and I really appreciate the help your ministry is giving.

Another area in which I suffered spiritually was that it interfered with my ability to pray for others. PCOG teaches that only certain people are "called" and will receive salvation when Christ returns to earth. The rest of the people will hear Him preach the gospel and decide whether or not to accept it, and Jesus will rule over them with an iron hand and make them all obey these "laws." Therefore, it's really useless to pray for anyone on this side except for the PCOG leaders.

They also squelch any personal talents saying that only the leaders are gifted to write or teach or encourage. I had been seeking an outlet for some of the things that I believe the Lord had inspired me to write a number of years before my involvement with PCOG, a copy of which I had forwarded to you. Maybe I was looking for approval, but not in a prideful way. I wanted to serve my God and be used by Him. I was looking for spiritual confirmation that the work was truly inspired by the Holy Spirit and that it could possibly be used to help others. Before PCOG, others with whom it was shared always found a blessing, and by this time in my involvement with PCOG, many doubts were surfacing and I wasn't convinced that this group had the same "Spirit." I think I was "testing the spirits" as the Bible says we should do. Anyway, his response was "well, that's very descriptive," and changed the subject. There is no validation of any possibility of gifts in their members--the emphasis is only on the "leader" and his calling. Everyone else must abdicate any talents to him.

I will continue reading your most helpful information, and I thank God that He has shown me there is work to do before I am completely free from this bondage. Again, God bless you for your wonderful work.

Your sister in Christ, "Camille" (author of Rescued From Philadelphia Church of God)

It Takes a Long Time to Get HWA's "Brainwashing" Out of Our Minds:

May 5, 2008

I am so thankful for people like "Camille" that open their hearts to people about their experience with PCG/Armstrongism. The lying spirits in the Armstrong groups continue to wreck havoc on innocent, well-meaning people seeking God. I am a child survivor of Armstrongism in the 1970's/early 1980's. Most of my young life was wasted on the very thing that "Camille" mentions in her letter--the constant filtering of information through the Armstrong doctrine. Armstrongites need a man to guide them because their doctrine is the doctrine of men. Armstrongites do not acknowledge the Holy Spirit as Deity nor do they acknowledge the Holy Spirit as our guide, our comforter, our teacher. Years ago I left Armstrongism and was still searching for the "true church." It is amazing how long it takes to get Armstrong's "brainwashing" out of one's mind. It is beautiful to realize that Jesus is the Kingdom, Jesus is the "true church," Jesus is our everything! I rejoice that I had a softer landing then some that are atheists and very bitter about their experience in Armstrongism. I pray for those people and pray for those in my family that are still imprisoned in Armstrongism. I pray that they will have a "soft landing" when they come into themselves and that Jesus will be their to catch them!

Thank you for your website.  It is very well done and very important!!! --S. K.

Frank Borg / Rules in PCG Only Apply to the "Little People":

May 7, 2008

In regard to your March 20 letter (Frank Borg Has Gone with Church of God's Faithful), I can tell you what is happening with Borg's wife, Sandra. She and the children have been living with Frank just as if nothing happened. Remember, he is the son-in-law of Winston Davis and the brother-in-law of Brian Davis, the Regional Director.

The rules only apply to the "little people." The important people and the wealthy people do not have to follow the so-called biblically based "no contact" rule.

I am an acquaintance and distant relative of Frank, and I know he is still living with his PCG wife!

The no contact rule does not apply to him or his PCG wife. How's that for "unity" in the PCG justice? --Former member (most grateful to be out of the PCG Cult of Fear)

Update: Sandra Borg is now out of PCG and the family has had to suffer from the "no contact" rule of Gerald Flurry's.

Wayne Turgeon's Father Was Forced to Abandon His Children:

May 12, 2008

Wayne Turgeon's father was forced to abandon his children even though his one son (Wayne) is an evangelist. That is because he had lots of money and the PCG did not want any of it to go to the children outside the PCG, but all the money to go to the PCG and Wayne.

The last time we saw Wayne's father he was extremely sad because of being forced to abandon his beloved children and he is quite old.  PCG is a sad, sick organization. --Former member of PCG

Exiters Who See Through Gerald Flurry's Craziness but not HWA's:

May 17, 2008

I've noticed that a number of ministers who leave PCG somehow can see through the craziness of Gerald Flurry, but they still think well of HWA. Many WCGers who ran to the PCG thought that GF was the only one out there still holding up HWA. Now many of them are starting to see that GF is adding to the "original HWA dogma" and they're tired of his tight-fisted control and Scripture twisting. But even though they come out, they still hold on to the PR image of HWA and speak politely of him, even justifying him. I've heard of them speak of HWA's "health laws" or "family closeness," as if somehow, there was some kind of goodness or rightness to HWA at some level. These are some of the ideologies that got members hooked into the group in the first place. The health laws were a system of control used against members to keep them busy and in check. If somebody became sick with a common, contagious illness, then it was blamed on the person for "breaking a Health Law." Obviously, some exiters do not see it exactly this way, but still hold on to some form of this practice.

As far as HWA teaching "family closeness," even HWA's own family wasn't part of his "church." GTA ousted out; Dorothy mysteriously gone from the scene; Beverly never a member; Loma dead from some kind of curable ailment had she gone to the doctor; HWA divorced from his second wife Ramona. How could HWA teach others the way to have close family relations when he didn't set the example himself? In reality, HWA's teachings broke up families--D&R, causing people to divorce mates outside the church; causing families to shun one another if a member was put out, deciding who can marry who and who can't, etc. To not be able to see and acknowledge all this evil and the hurt it causes is to be pretty blind to HWA's nonsense and destruction.

And to simply say, "Too bad HWA didn't practice autonomy in his church like he taught in the early years" should be a big tip off that HWA's church was not about autonomy. These ex-ministers do not seem to understand that they were under a dictatorship, and were part of that dictatorship. They don't seem mortified by this at all.

I'm glad some of these ex-ministers and their families are out, but they still have a long ways to go if they cannot perceive these things. --C. G.

Found $5,000 Money Order Receipt:

May 30, 2008

My brother died awhile back and while I was going through things in his house, I found an old receipt showing that he had sent in $5000 to the WCG in Pasadena from back in the 70's. He didn't have two nickels to rub together his whole life, but somehow he managed to send thousands of dollars to HWA to build his empire. Incredible! My mouth just about hit the floor! I looked hard to see if there was a decimal there (like $50.00), but there wasn't. Five thousand dollars in the '70s would have been a lot of money (not that it isn't now). I wouldn't have believed he had that kind of money to send if I hadn't seen the receipt for the money order with my own eyes. My brother didn't have the proverbial "pot to pee in," and to now know how HWA jetted around the world and lived in the lap of luxury with this poor man's money was nothing less than shocking (and sickening). I'm seeing more and more every day the exploitation of those who believed HWA--and persist to believe him through GF--and it still makes me sick to see how people have been used (and continue to be). --Escaped Flurry in Georgia

PCG is Dwindling:

June 16, 2008

The PCG is dwindling in numbers. For example (from what I've heard through the grapevine), the Louisville, KY church now only has about 15 members now (down from 50). This is a result of members getting disfellowshipped by Cal Culpepper and from members leaving. Furthermore, disfellowshipped members are not seeking counseling for re-admittance to the PCG. It would appear they've had enough of Gerald Flurry. --Indiana

PCG is a Dying Organization:

June 19, 2008

I want to confirm that PCG is dwindling in members. In a recent telephone conversation with a friend, who is in contact with someone in PCG, the whole state of Arizona has only about 100 members now. That is not very many for the state of Arizona. I know that PCG's members are getting old, and they certainly must not be attracting new people at the rate their members are leaving and dying off. It's a dying organization.

I pray that more of them will be delivered from their blindness and come to the realization of the joy of a sound minded spiritual relationship with the Lord Jesus. --J.

Another Suicide in PCG:

June 27, 2008

A troubled wife in PCG just took her life. Another suicide. So very sad. There just is no help of the type needed in that black hole--especially for women. What a tragedy. The ministers probably will say it was all her fault. --Name withheld

Comment: If anyone in PCG is feeling desperate, please realize that there is no need to fear you will die eternally if you leave PCG. The fear placed in you is only a mind control method to keep you from leaving. Suicide is not the answer! There is freedom and life and a loving, accepting God outside of PCG. Contact your loved ones and let them know you are alright.

We Finally Got the Courage to Leave PCG:

July 4, 2008

We are ex-members of PCG, and saddened by the news that another woman has taken her life in this stupid, mind-controlling so-called "church." There was a woman in PCG in CA that took her life about 3 yrs ago, but it was all hushed up. No one was allowed to discuss it. Life must have been "hell" for that woman for her to take her own life, leaving behind a teenage boy. Its a very sad thing that these women see no way out of their terrible situation because the men rule over them.

We finally got the courage to leave, after many years of mind control and harassment, and it wasn't easy for the first few weeks because of the guilt trip, but we finally got over that, and then it was a like a breath of fresh air come over us. We felt the burden lift and felt so free. It has been wonderful every since and we feel sorry for those left in it and for the newer members that are deceived. If any of them are reading this, please gather all your strength to get out of that false church. It will take time to heal, but get out now as it is causing too much damage to your state of mind. Any disagreement or hesitation on matters that occur in your mind is a warning sign. Read the signs before it gets worse--but really, it can't get much worse. They've done it all!!

PCG Under Financial Pressure?

August 10, 2008

Dear Staff,

I have followed your website since shortly before being suspended from the PCG back in January. I have to believe the PCG is under some financial pressure. Is it possible to obtain IRS filing info?

Best regards, --Michigan/Ontario

Comment: One of our contacts relayed the following: "I doubt that anyone can obtain the IRS information on the PCG, although legitimate religious organizations make their financial records public. As you know, secretive financial records are one of the identifying marks of a cult."

PCG's Public Financial Records in Canada:

August 10, 2008

Good site you have. Did you know that churches' financials are public record here in Canada? I've looked at the returns for PCG Canada [found at Canada Revenue Agency] and the years 2000-2007 are posted. There is not much growth in their receivables over those years. Anyway, its easy to access this info for yourself on the government of Canada web site. Keep up your good efforts. --Bill (Canada)

Update: This info (to "Registered Charities Information for Philadelphia Church of God") was later removed from the site. (Read 9-28-08 letter below) We anticipated this and saved the page. A mirror page is posted here.

Gerald Flurry and His Five-Year Prophecy:

August 11, 2008

I have some interesting news. In a sermon this last Saturday Gerald Flurry said the tribulation "would begin in around five years." If that is true, why does he need to build all the expensive new buildings just to leave them behind whenever they flee? I haven't heard a straight answer from any member yet. Hopefully, somewhere in the back of their minds, they are asking themselves the same question.

I have also wondered if GF is trying to coincide his date with the Mayan calendar that ends in 2012? I'd say there will be a lot of speculation around that time, kind of like the doomsday scenario that was being played up for Y2K.

Anyway, I think this five year "prophecy" is just an incentive for members to keep giving their money and not worrying about mounting debts as they figure they'll be holed up in some cave in Petra five years from now. It's a classic ploy that reminded me right away of HWA's book 1975 in Prophecy which he used to acquire money from the WCG members. In this book he "foretold" about the coming destruction. If any member hasn't heard of this book, it is still available online. I'm hoping more will have their eyes opened to these false prophets. --M. L.

Flurry Formerly Said End Would Be in 2008:

August 11, 2008

When we were in the PCG three years ago, Flurry had been telling us for a couple of years that he felt the end would be in 2008. He has to predict the "new" end is five years from now because "hello"--2008 is here now!!!

What a joke. It is sad but it is a joke.

Every time he makes an end time prediction it never comes true. It is to keep the money coming in and the poor, lost, deceived sheep in confusion and fear. --Former PCG member

Need Info and Help From Someone in Australia:

September 11, 2008

I have been following your site for a few years now and appreciate the work you do.

(1) I was hoping you could tell me where the FOT will be held in Australia in 2008.

(2) My ex-wife is in this cult and was before we separated. You would be correct that we split due to the PCG. I managed to keep custody of children through the courts but now she is starting a new court battle to get the children back. I am amazed at some of the stories she has made up and the trouble she has caused with false accusations to various government departments. I may need to go back to court in an effort to keep custody of my children and was hoping that someone who used to be in PCG would write a letter for me to say what the negative affects of the cult is. I had downloaded letters the first time in court but they were dismissed because they were downloaded from internet. So I am hoping for a letter addressed to me with details or even someone who lives in Brisbane, Australia that I could talk to. Your help in this would be appreciated. Thanks, --Australia

PCG Philippine Site Changed / New Sites

September 12, 2008

The feast site in the Philippines has now been changed from Baguio City to Pampanga (Province) Philippines because PCG says they had "problems" with their previous site.

Gerald Flurry says they have 20 different sites this year. The feast locations are: Edmond, OK; Sandusky, OH (new); Greenville, S.C., San Diego, CA, Fredericton, New Brunswick (new); Vernon, British Columbia; Veracruz, Mexico; Crown Point, Tobago; George, South Africa; Jerusalem, Israel; Baguio City, Philippines; Nadi, Fiji; Tweed Heads, Australia; Europe. This year the feast will be from Oct. 14 through Oct. 21. Their first service will begin at sunset on Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. The "satellite transmission" from Edmond with GF speaking will be on Oct. 14 and 15.

They are planning a new feast site for 2010 and that will be the Armstrong Auditorium. (There will also be services at the John Amos Field House.) --Philippines

PCG Feast of Tabernacles Extreme Rules:

September 12, 2008

All those 18 years and older must wear "name badges," which they will receive when they arrive at their assigned site on the opening night of the feast. (Bumper stickers will not be issued this year.)

When registering for the feast, there is no question about whether or not they will serve, but only "where do you want to serve?" They are also asked about what activities they plan to attend.

Everyone that expects to attend must list their date of birth and their baptism date on the registration form (and they had to register by May 23, but not before May 1). Also, phone#, cell phone#, work phone#, and fax# are all required.

Grown children still living with their parents, roommates, relatives, handicapped members (other than their spouse), and all children aged 18 and out of school at feast time must fill out their own form.

The "singles mixer" (which lasts only l ½ hours on the first day) must be prepaid ($20.00) to HQs, or none of the singles can't get in. They also must list each person buying a ticket for the function.

If any of the young adults are not baptized, they have to attend the same feast site as their parents.

If  they want to join the choir, they must fill out a special form, and fill in their "height with shoes."

If they want to participate in the "Entertainment Night," they must sign up at the feast, but the "Entertainment Night Manager" must approve the lyrics, costumes, jokes, etc.

The registration form requires them to figure in their "budget"--meaning they are to list the following: their tithe of the tithe (which is 10% of their second tithe and which must be mailed to HQ), their travel expenses (round trip), how much they will spend for food, lodging, entertainment and other expenses, and then total that all up. They also must list their emergency reserve, their total 2nd tithe (which is 10% of their gross income), and "other funds" and then total that.

They also are given a "personal feast budget worksheet" (for their own use) to plan out how much they will spend for breakfast, lunch, dinner, lodging, and miscellaneous, and then total up all their daily expenses. Then they list their expenses "from the feast, to the feast, and from the feast" and write down their 2nd tithe plus "other funds available for the feast," total all of it and come up with their "total projected expenses."

If they want to transfer to another feast site, they must fill out another form. (Transfer "cut off date" was April 7 this year.) But it must be approved by their local minister. Final written approval will be made by HQs and they cannot make travel or lodging plans until they receive then. Flurry also says, "If you are traveling overseas but want credit on your taxes for your holy day offerings, you should send them to your regional office. Then, so as not to appear before God empty-handed, you should make some type of anonymous offering at the feast site services."

They have to make reservations only with "HQ approved accommodations" listed in the planner and identify themselves as "a member of the Philadelphia Church of God."

If they aren't attending, they must fill out a "not attending form" and specifically state why they aren't attending, and check: "have you discussed it with your minister?"

And if they have a "complaint" or "dissatisfaction," they are not to register it to anyone except "those in the church who are ministers and/or hotel monitors."

They must state the date of their arrival at the feast and the date of their departure.

As far as "swim suit rules," one thing listed was that their outfit should not only not show any cleavage, but should "completely cover the buttocks in the back" and "ladies should be careful about bending over."

During their time at the feast, they will have "18 hours of messages."

PCG HQs makes the feast look and sound very exciting and alluring (colorful, beautiful travel brochure photos are used in their planner), but these poor people are unaware that it is really a mind control game where their whole life is being extremely controlled in order that they might be exploited by power-hungry leaders. --Anonymous

Flurry Uses Fear to Manipulate Member' Emotions:

September 14, 2008

I recently read Gerald Flurry's August 13, 2008 co-worker letter. He is continuing to turn up the volume of the rhetoric and doomsday scenarios to the members. He now has written a newer version of his earlier (and revolting) booklet (Lamentations) and titled it, Lamentations: The Point of No Return. It will be given out to members at this year's feast. He says this book is really about America, Britain and Judah "reaching the point of no return." (What an enjoyable feast present to the members!) But he will never set specific dates, so he only says, "we are about to be destroyed," and "we are awfully close to the Tribulation." It was merely a rehash of HWA's false prophecies (which he gave over and over again until others finally woke up to the charade).

I couldn't help but notice that Flurry is so concerned with the supposed "coming holocaust," but he still thanks the brethren for their contributions to the building fund, and brags about the money that the members have sent in. He even tells them that the PCG may not have to use the money that they had borrowed from the bank for the new construction. From fear mongering to exhortations for money, he is leaving no stone unturned in playing on the emotions of the members in order to manipulate them. I only hope that more members are beginning to see through Flurry's facade, and are leaving the PCG. This whole letter was sickening. --R. L.

Have PCG Financial Records in Canada Disappeared From the Net?

September 28, 2008

I emailed you not long ago [read 8-10-08 letter "PCG's Public Financial Record in Canada"] about seeing the Canadian financial info for the Canadian Philadelphia Church of God. You responded with a link. Well, now the site shows nothing is listed under that name??? I have worked with this site to no avail.

To simplify and help your readers to access this info better (if such info exists), could you copy the link of the online page where the info is? For us simpletons? (Not too simple though because I choose not to go to the Philadelphia church, leaving it in the dust after checking into it and attending for six Sabbaths' in 96-97 because of family.) --Still curious about Canada PCG financial records

Comment: The page was later removed but we had saved it. Here is a mirror. We also sent this person an email which showed PCG's assets, liabilities, income, and expenses for 2000-2005 (graphs are included). If anyone would like this sent to them, please let us know. (You will need HTML enabled in your email account.) Otherwise, we have posted the page without the graphs: Philadelphia Church of God Financial Reports, Canada 2000-2005. As far as we know, this info is no longer posted online.

A PCG Feast Site in Belgium:

October 2, 2008

I hope all is well with you and the other wonderful ESN staff. I don't know if you are aware that one of the PCG feast sites this year is Belgium. -- Take care, --Impacted

No Contact Ruling Was Very Hard on Robert Turgeon:

October 6, 2008

Just before we left the PCG about 3 years ago, Wayne Turgeon (who is a regional director, "evangelist," and the son-in-law of Gerald Flurry) told his father Robert Turgeon that he [Robert] would have to cut off all of his other children (Wayne's siblings) because of the cut off ruling by that dictator GF. In fact, Wayne and his wife came specifically to get his father to comply with the no contact rule since Robert had not done it and the whole congregation knew it. It was very hard on Robert, especially loving his family so much and being in his 80's.

I feel so sorry for Robert. He is so old and he misses his other children terribly. He and his wife Mary are still in that group and he still cannot talk to his other children or their grandchildren. It is all so very sad. When we left the PCG, he was dealing with cancer on his face. He is a very nice person and the stress of missing his children, I believe, has lowered his immune system and thus, the cancer.

Wayne is married to Flurry's daughter and has 4 or 5 children. Robert has several other children but they are not in the PCG. I believe they are the only Turgeons in the PCG.

When we left, we thought it would be only a matter of a few months before our own children would come out, but they are too afraid. --Impacted by the no contact ruling

Comment: To cause such overwhelming grief to others (especially in one's own family) is totally opposite of Christ's teachings, but it is very much in line with how deceptive, destructive groups operate. Read: Understanding Mind Control and Exploitive Groups.

The Lavish Homes of Wayne Turgeon and Stephen Flurry:

October 6, 2008

I was in Wayne Turgeon's home at one time and it must have cost by today's standards around $500,000. They have a completely glass enclosed bathroom with sunken Jacuzzi tub that looks out over the lake and a complete apartment on the first floor. The main part of the house is the second floor with 3 bedrooms and I believe 2 bathrooms and a powder room. There is a deck that goes completely around the back of the house overlooking the lake. Next door is Gerald Flurry's home which is huge and Stephen's is on the other side. I think between the three homes the total value would be around $1,500,000. Take that along with trips around the world, honeymoons for Stephen and Amy in Vienna, Austria, and a vacation in Paris, France for Wayne and Flurry's daughter, and you are talking a millionaire's lifestyle, which I'm sure, Amy will not ever want to leave. I'm sure she will try to "convert" any outside friends that contact her, not the other way around. After all, it takes a lot of $$$$$$ to keep their lifestyle going.

There are so many people who are poor, or are barely meeting basic needs, and the top leaders are living like kings at the expense of other peoples lives. --Ex-member of PCG

Comment: We had one person who has a loved one in PCG ask how Amy Flurry could be swayed by such lavish living when Christ was so humble? See Other Main Characteristics in our article "Identifying Marks of an Exploitive, Abusive Group."

Flurry Teaching Tribulation Will Come in 2010:

November 17, 2008

In a conversation that I overheard between two members of the PCG, I heard that Gerald Flurry is teaching that the beginning of the great tribulation will be in 2010, not 2012, as some have speculated. One of the members said that he had heard a sermon at the feast last year that placed the time to flee in 2010. I'm not surprised, since 2010 marks the end of another of HWA's 19-year "cycles." --Insider

Comment: Flurry has been throwing 2010 around as a "target date" for some time.

Flurry Says PCG Will Need 10,000 Members Before Fleeing:

November 19, 2008

I wanted to comment that Gerry has been saying the tribulation would begin in 2010 for quite a while. I remember this because I bought a copy of the "Bible Code" a few years back and as I was showing it around services in PCG, I was pointing out how the book and Gerry were both referencing 2010 for the end. He, Gerry, of course always hedged his bets with weasel words such as "wouldn't it be interesting if," or "it could be a possibility," and so did the book for that matter. One of the people I discussed that with at the time was [a minister in PCG who is related to GF]. And I am sure that he shared that with him, and that only made him bolder.

Their biggest hurdle will be that Gerry was quite certain and vocal that the PCG would have to have 10,000 members before fleeing, a reference to the scripture that "Jesus comes with his ten thousands of saints." [Jude 1:14] He will find a way out, of course, by saying that he did not say "thus saith the Lord" or some such thing.

Regards, --V. W.

NOTICE: PCG News Story (FOX 25 Special Report on Philadelphia Church of God) The following letters pertain to this.

Nick Winkler, a news reporter from Fox 25 in Oklahoma City, contacted ESN on September 30, 2008 regarding a PCG story he was assigned to do. He was also referred to our other contacts. The following emails pertain to this special investigative report done on November 24 and 25. (Philadelphia Church of God: Part one) Part two aired November 26: Philadelphia Church of God: Part two. NOTE 1-9-09: If anyone is willing to be interviewed in the future and give their testimony regarding their harmful experiences with PCG (your face would be blocked out and your voice changed to keep you anonymous), please contact ESN and we will forward your email to Nick. Unless others can gain the courage to speak up and expose what is actually going on in PCG, many more will be harmed and evil deeds will be continued under the cover of darkness. "Mug Shots" Shown of Flurry:

November 25, 2008

We saw the news program. The reporter told how PCG said that the end of the world would be violent and then Christ would return. Stephen Flurry showed pictures of the building project and some of the grounds. Near the end they showed the "mug shots" of Flurry from the incident where he got drunk on the Oklahoma college grounds. [University of Central Oklahoma] They also spoke to several former members. Dr. Barbara Boyd at Oklahoma University mentioned the fact that no one knows exactly "where all the money goes."

They said the police had a story to tell about Flurry they would talk about that tonight on the program (Pt. 2). --Former members of PCG

Claiming That Tithing is Voluntary:

November 25, 2008

They interviewed a Dr. Barbara Boyd, Professor of Religious Studies at Oklahoma University. She makes the inane comment that she looks up to anyone who can or will give 35% of their income to a church (as though PCG were legitimate). They also are claiming that tithing is voluntary. It is simply one version for those on the outside; another version for those on the inside. You know well how that works! --William Hohmann, author of Mystery of the Ages (a 2nd critical review) and other articles on ESN site.

Exposed as Apocalyptic Group:

November 25, 2008

Part 1 is pretty tough on them. The commentator interviews Stephen Flurry, whose explanation of PCG beliefs will come off as "kooky" to those not informed of HWA doctrine. It also shows the practice of 2nd and 3rd tithes, and says that the church has "generated 15 million dollars in revenue" last year from its members. They interview Dr. Barbara Boyd of the University of Oklahoma, who says that 2nd and 3rd tithes are unreasonable, even in evangelical churches. What I found most interesting was when SF says "We believe we're at the time of the end." The commentator says that the PCG believes that "only the faithful will survive."

The PCG is definitely exposed as an apocalyptic group.

Part two is going to talk about GF's police record. (Read: Flurry's police record)

They also interview David Ben-Ariel, but I don't pay much attention to what he says, as he still holds to HWA doctrine, and from what I've read of his writings (blog) he's what I would term a "radical Armstrongite." The only difference between him and GF is that GF has a large following. --Impacted by loved one in PCG

A Discerning Person Will See Through the Disguise:

November 25, 2008

It's exactly as I would expect. We watched Pt. 1 today. They, just like the HWA organization make it look, on the surface "so neat." But then, that's exactly how the enemy works. He works hard to hide the secret undercover stuff. Like draining and bleeding those poor captives of his organization financially dry so he can build his multi million dollar building, while at the same time telling his captives that "time is short."

It was good that the station aired some of the other side from those who have been there and suffered, and are still suffering. I feel a discerning person will see through the disguise, for when a thinking person sees it, it will be clear that something does not add up here. It's the "non thinkers" I am concerned about.

Those in captivity will "eat it all up." I did when I was there. All the propaganda HWA's organization put about Ambassador College and "the Work," I felt was just wonderful.

The Lord graciously opened my mind. Our assignment from Him is to continually do prayer warfare, and in His time and in His way, He will release those whom He will release. I know several past friends who are still there. My sister is still there. My step son and his wife, and two grandchildren are still there. We pray for them all and long for the day they also will be released from that captivity. --Former WCG member; impacted by loved ones in PCG

GF Tells Members They Will Now Come Under Fire as Never Before:

November 25, 2008

In listening to part one I could see some similarities to other religious cults. It looks like the station is trying to expose them, while walking a thin line of saying all they can without putting themselves at risk for a lawsuit.

I thought about whether I should drop a comment to [someone in PCG] about the story, but I decided I'd better not. This person has said that GF is starting another speaking campaign, and that he's already told the members that he and the PCG will come under fire like never before for taking the message to the world, so I'm sure that any members that see this story will only see it as proof that he's right about the world attacking "god's church" and would only reinforce their faith in GF. --Impacted by loved one in PCG

PCG Compound May Provide a Temporary Place of Safety:

November 25, 2008

I watched Pt. 1 and found it contradictory. This is common in that organization. Why are they building for God on earth when it is all going to be burned up? Is this compound somehow going to survive God's wrath during the Day of the Lord? Where can they substantiate what they are teaching about this building project in the Scriptures? It's all about a physical work and yet God is concerned about us building spiritual character--not buildings. This compound may provide a temporary place of safety for them.

Many other churches have building projects and schools. Why should PCG be any more recognized than them? I'm so glad to be away from there, but feel very sorry for those who still think that PCG is right. --Former member of WCG, PCG and RCG

More Info From Part One:

November 25, 2008

The comment from Stephen Flurry about their 15 million dollar Performing Arts Center "showcases the greatest achievements of the human spirit" sounded quite phony to me. I hope those who are not familiar with the organization are turned off by the fact that kind of cash was spent on a building instead of social responsibility.

The fact that the college is "not accredited" was a welcomed fact.

It sounds like David Ben-Ariel is still on board with the Armstrong beliefs even after being disfellowshipped. (He, along with all those who have surrendered to the control of Armstrongism, will continue to be in my prayers.)

Dr. Barbara Boyd from Oklahoma University did not take the opportunity to explain how destructive the fear of not tithing can be to families [in PCG].

I am disappointed with Fox for inviting the viewer to contact PCG for information regarding their concert series and archaeological dig. It seemed like a favor to Flurry.

I'm looking forward to Pt. 2. --Impacted by the "no contact" ruling

Part Two Exposes PCG Further:

November 25, 2008

I just watched part 2. They brought up the allegations of the PCG trying to withdraw money from an elderly member's bank account without her knowledge. Stephen Flurry claimed to know nothing about that. At the beginning of the piece Nick Winkler mentioned that the PCG has been investigated by various police agencies and the FBI. They also mentioned the practice of the 3 tithe system again, as in part one, and again the PCG claims that tithing is "voluntary."

On Gerald Flurry's arrest, Nick Winkler showed the police report and mentioned that he tried to bribe the officer $25 dollars. They showed Flurry's mug shot. Very powerful and very bad for Flurry.

Right after Nick reported Flurry's arrest, he reported that the PCG believes that Gerald Flurry is a prophet and speaks for God. Nick asked Stephen point blank if Flurry speaks for God and Stephen acknowledged it by saying yes and that he fulfills the role of a prophet as laid out in Scripture.

Nick asked Stephen how much Gerald made last year in salary from the PCG. Stephen said he wasn't sure but he believes that it's in the neighborhood of $65,000. Yeah, but that doesn't take into account the free, brand new house and all the other perks which probably add up to half a million a year, if I were to make an educated guess.

It was also reported that they don't believe in interracial marriage, and that they cut off family members who don't agree with them. That was a great point made at the end of the segment.

In both parts, a theology professor from Oklahoma University was interviewed. In part 2 she stressed the importance of members being able to disagree with the leadership, rather than just an "accept everything that is said" policy. The PCG claims that people are allowed to disagree, which of course is a damn lie.

Overall with both parts, a viewer would definitely get the impression that the Edmond HQ grounds is like a compound. In fact, in part 2 a passing comparison was made to the Branch Davidians. Nick asked Stephen if they are the Branch Davidians. Stephen laughed and said no. The effect on video was great.

It was a very good report. Nick Winkler did an excellent job. --Former PCG member

Comment: Also read: Warning to All Elderly People Who Are Considering Joining Philadelphia Church of God! and how David Koresh's belief system was very similar to that of Gerald Flurry's Philadelphia Church of God.

Mike's Enlightenment Page Was Shown on Part Two:

November 25, 2008

Guess what? Mike's Enlightenment Page was on part two twice!!! Yes!!! Maybe somebody will check it out online! They show a complete shot of Mike's Enlightenment Page, then they do a close-up of the words "Beware of the Philadelphia Church of God" and then they quickly flash down to the contents of the page. Really cool!!!

They reported finding GF drunk and passed out in his car and how he tried to bribe the police with $25. That was great! Of course, Stephen Flurry acted like he didn't know anything about it. One brave ex-member said that GF is using fear to dupe members out of their money. I'm glad he could see through it. --Former WCG member

Gerald and Stephen Flurry Are Hypocrites:

November 26, 2008

Those two programs were not long enough to expose the PCG for what they are, hypocrites. For one thing tithing is not voluntary; they demand it or you're out. It's time the members woke up to the Flurry tribe. Who was Stephen Flurry trying to kid? What does Flurry need paying for? It would be pocket money to him. What is there for him to spend it on? He has a big new house built on the land, new car to drive, his kids living on either side of him so no travelling to get to see them and let's not forget the "pay" his kids have on top of their new houses! Members have paid for their new houses, too, and continue to pay for their ongoing empire building. How can they say they are building a "house for God"? God doesn't need one. It's all been done before. Flurry is only after the members' money. Those mug shots are about right--he is a control freak and a crook. --Ex member of WCG, PCG, & LCG

My Commentary on the PCG Story:

November 26, 2008

I recently watched Fox25's story on the Philadelphia Church of God. Anyone who has family members or loved ones involved with the PCG wouldn't be surprised by the requirement of second and third tithes, nor the apocalyptic slant of Stephen Flurry when he says, "We believe we're in the time of the end." The commentator in the news story says that the PCG believes "only the faithful will survive." A former member, Dennis Fisher, states that Gerald Flurry sets himself up as a representative of God, and has declared himself "That Prophet." While this should be disturbing to someone unfamiliar with the group, to many of us, we're all too familiar already. While I was watching and listening to this, I already knew that these statements were true, as I had been hearing them and reading about them for years, since my mate's involvement in the PCG had brought them into my life, as well.

On the second half, I quickly caught the lie that members can question the authority in the PCG. This is an out-and-out falsehood. Every member knows that to question the ministry is to question the "government of God" and is "not of God." Questioning is a quick way to find oneself disfellowshipped and separated from friends and family, which is a fearful means of keeping the members in control, not to mention the fear of eternal punishment for not belonging to the "one true church," the PCG.

I also noticed that while GF did not appear in person, either because of his own paranoia, or because he thought that SF was more appealing to the public, there was a large painting of HWA behind SF, with HWA in a regal pose, either coincidentally or symbolically, looking over his son’s shoulder. Personally, I think that from the PCG perspective, letting SF speak is for the best. I have to admit that just seeing GF on TV gives me the "heebie-jeebies." He's always come across to me as being about as trustworthy as some used car salesmen that I've known.

Let me add that I have to say that I do agree with SF on one thing he said: the PCG is not a "Branch-Davidian" operation. They're not stockpiling food or weapons, although the report did mention and show the gardening, livestock, and nearby water supply. The purpose of the PCG is to produce cash, a source of income for the upper ministers, and to give evil men a power of control over helpless and frightened members. Obviously, they're not really worried about the coming "end times," or they wouldn't be investing millions of dollars in members' tithes and offerings in buildings dedicated to men. These buildings' names quickly reveal who the flurry's "god" is; his name and likeness are in and on most everything they produce: HWA [Herbert W. Armstrong].

I would encourage anyone who has family members in this group and those similar to it to watch these programs. I can also just pray that people take the information presented in the programs, and use it to educate themselves and their friends and family, and warn them of the Armstrong groups. --Have loved one in PCG

News Story Shows Complaints Have Been Received:

November 26, 2008

The news special on FOX 25 indicates a couple of things. First, news organizations do not put out negative stories about religious organizations unless they have received a number of complaints. They err on the side of caution. This means there are a number of people complaining about the church and their activities. The fact that the PCG is responding to the story by putting Stephen Flurry out there means they are worried about something (normally they do not respond). There may be more defections than we think if they are concerned about this negative news to the point of answering questions. This was a pretty negative story for a religious group. --Anonymous

A Few of My Family's Thoughts on the Fox News Presentation:

November 26, 2008

Here are a few of my family's thoughts of the Fox News presentation on the PCG:

1. It doesn't make sense to me that they're building a 15 million dollar arts center if in fact they believe that Jesus will be coming back to Jerusalem.

2. It's very weird that they have created their own water system.

3. I was glad they stated in both parts that their college is not accredited. Makes people wonder what they're really teaching there if they can't get accreditation.

4. Tithing being excessive was stressed. That's a red flag to me and should be to everyone.

5. Fifteen million dollars revenue in one year is extremely excessive for such a small church. What are they doing to bring in such massive amounts of money? It is very worrisome to hear SF say his father only earns $65,000 per year. If folks did research on his lifestyle, they would find that this is completely inaccurate. If they can't be upfront and honest about that fact, then they are obvious lying about many other facts.

6. I believe they are definitely scamming and scaring people out of their money. That was more than obvious to me.

7. It's very frightening that in this day and age anyone would say that they solely speak for God. Only God speaks for God.

8. The 170 acre campus in Oklahoma looked like a creepy and un-American project.

9. It was very disturbing to hear that any church anywhere on the planet would actually tell members to cut off ties with family members that are outside the PCG or to ban interracial marriage. This sends a deeply disturbing message. God loves each and every one of us, regardless of our nationality and color.

10. Anyone that thinks they can use fear to keep members in line is definitely wrong.

11. It was obvious to me that the followers of the PCG have been mind controlled and are in a very destructive cult environment.

--Have family members in PCG

My Observations From the News Reports:

November 26, 2008

Stephen Flurry could not keep a straight face when saying the world was coming to a violent end, could he?

He also could not bring himself to state dogmatically that GF is actually a prophet, much less "That" Prophet. What was that all about? He skirted around the answer like a practiced politician!

Three tithes voluntary??? The member who doesn't give them is supposed to be guilty of "robbing God"!

Too bad nothing was said about the books that the members were required to buy at exorbitant prices.

I wish I could afford a house like the one they showed. I don't think that was bought with a salary of $65,000 a year.

I loved the mug shots!! [of Gerald Flurry] I am betting most of the members didn't know anything about that arrest.

I believe the picture behind SF was actually one of a very old HWA. I am familiar with that picture. One of the members took the picture and made a painting of it.

I noticed at the end of the second segment that SF had told the reporter that the PCG had helped in a handicapped school in Jordan. That was many years ago, and the PCG was kicked out very quickly. The Jordanians are very wary of "churches" that are interested in Petra. There are quite a few, actually.

I hope most of the people that watched the reports realized just how stupid it would be to pour all that money into a "campus" when the world is about to explode. What is the point? --Former WCG/PCG member

Wish They Had Been Tougher on Them:

November 27, 2008

I watched both parts. I wish they'd been tougher on them. The PCG is currently trying to take someone's money here in Iowa. An elderly member died, they are giving his (non member) daughter grief. A member has the key to the deceased's house and has not returned it to the daughter. I guess (very nice) furniture is gone. Not too Christian, are they? Perhaps I should let that FOX affiliate know about that! Thank you for the heads up. --Former PCG member

What Struck Me With the News Story:

November 27, 2008

I watched both parts of the news story and a couple of things struck me.

I noticed that Stephen seemed uncomfortably embarrassed when he was asked if Gerald was a prophet, and had to quickly add a qualifier to it. No one in the organization has the slightest hesitation to give him that title in the privacy of services. It reminded me of how Herbert Armstrong used to be embarrassed by Jesus and only spoke, in public forums, of "a strong hand from someplace."

Also the whole idea that tithing is voluntary. While they may not send a bill for them, the tithes are not voluntary. You are faced with eternal death in the Lake of Fire if you do not tithe. It is psychological extortion at best.

I thought that the whole story was a softball piece. If it had been a hardball story it would have been perceived by the membership as persecution and a sign that they were the "true church." It could be helpful in warning those on the outside, or those contemplating joining, and in that regard, needed.

Thanks for alerting me to it. --Former WCG/PCG member

There is Another Side to the Story:

November 27, 2008

I watched both parts of the interview, and was amazed at the whole story. Why didn't Gerald do the interview is my first question? I also noticed that when Stephen Flurry was saying that they believe that Gerald is fulfilling the role of a prophet, there was a little smirk on his face, like maybe he didn't believe it himself. They claim the time to flee is 2010 and they need 10,000 people. That makes me wonder why they are doing this interview. Could it be, trying to con people into believing this is a normal "church." I think their numbers are very low; they are trying to get more people. They are trying to make the group look normal, when in fact, they are far from normal. I believe there is another side of this story that needs to be told, our side. I hope that all who have been affected by this man who calls himself a prophet needs to write to the station. And let them know we want to give our side of the story. It's only fair that our voice is heard. I hope they will allow us to speak, and allow us to tell how we all have been affected by this organization. It's far from being Christian. One who has lost a daughter and three grandchildren because of the No Contact Rule, and this so call Prophet. --CJS

Flurry and Ministers Giving False Message:

November 30, 2008

PCG will just spin this and tell the members it's proof that they're God's people and that's why they are being projected this way. Unfortunately, many of their members will believe this. Hopefully more people will open their eyes and see that Mr. Flurry and his ministers are giving a false message that separates people from their families and friends. --Former member of PCG

Flurrys Need to Get Off Moses' Seat:

November 30, 2008

When I watched part 2 of the Fox25 interview, my initial thought was that until these men get off Moses' seat, laws and regimented rulings to control will continue to remain over those who are as yet seemingly naïve and blind to perceive the true message that Jesus Christ came to teach for all of mankind. Those two greater commandments are love. Old wine cannot be forced into new wineskins just as Scripture says.

Jesus Christ's example and teachings were in such contrast to how these men are ruling and it is a sad reflection on them that they sit so hard with their need to control that it forces members to obey their rulings as they are doing.

These men may hope to increase their numbers but people will only bend so far to strive to become the perfected people these men pressure members to become. --Impacted by loved ones in PCG

Any Info on Members Who Died Without Medical Treatment?

December 1, 2008

I was wondering if you have contact information for relatives of PCG members who have died without treatment for illness? Nick Winkler would be interested in having more of this info as he might do a follow-up. The ones I know that died are Brenda Davis, Garth MacDonald from Australia, the Cocomise twin; I'm sure you know of more than I. I don't know who may be willing to talk to Nick about that but it would be very helpful to him. --Have loved one in PCG

Comment: If anyone is interested in contacting Nick Winkler, Email ESN and we will put you in touch with him. He welcomes correspondence from all who have info. If any letters are posted on the site, you will kept anonymous unless you state otherwise. Only if others are willing to speak up without fear will evil deeds be exposed to the light.

Almost Joined PCG:

December 1, 2008

I, too, was going through the process of joining the Philadelphia church of God. But God has lead me away to another direction. Gerald Flurry was in Toronto on 11/9/08. I had tickets to go but did not. Tonight I emailed the Canadian office and thanked them for their teachings and support but told them that God has called me in another direction. However they will probably try to lure me back, but I have call display and will not return any calls. Tell me something please does this church do any community service such as food drives, raising money to help the poor or sick? It seems to me that they do not. God Bless. --Canada

Reply: No, they do not. PCG is not considered a church, but has the identifying marks of an exploitive, abusive group. I hope our site will be helpful to you.

Majority of Money From Yard and Bake Sales Goes to Building Projects:

December 1, 2008

This is in response to the question in the last letter. The PCG conducts yard sales, bake sales, etc., but most of the proceeds have been going to building projects. Local churches have only been able to keep some of the money for their local activities. The biggest part of the money they might receive from these sales they have had during the year will then go to whatever the then-current building project is; i.e., the Hall of Administration, the Performing Arts Center, etc. As far as food drives, or reaching out to those less fortunate outside the PCG and trying to help them, the PCG doesn't. According to the ministers' thinking, that money would be best reserved for "the work."  --S. S.

Jake Winters Also Died Without Medical Treatment:

December 1, 2008

What about the Jake Winters, the son of Craig Winters. If he would have been prescribed medicine, he would still be alive. --Former member of PCG

Comment: That is correct. Read: Jake Winters a Victim of Abuse  (covers his death)

Never Been So Happy:

December 2, 2008

Greetings:

I was in WWCG and PCG for many, many years. We members typically thought that the church was our life, so, if a member would be put out, it was as if the ministry would
kill that person forever because the one put out would think they are being cut off from eternal life. Similarly, if one voluntarily leaves, it is like spiritual suicide--it is still death.

I decided it was worth dying to get out of there and so, I left in November of 2005. I immediately began to feel better.

Jesus made a very revealing statement: "Those who seek to save their lives (maybe in a place of safety?) will lose it, and those who lose their lives for my sake will save it." I could relate!

Since leaving I have never been so happy in all my life; the church and its evil leaders no longer have any influence in my life. I meet with friends of like mind and we have spectacular Bible studies and stimulating conversations on any subject we choose and I can assure you that none of us have any fear of PCG.

Nick Winkler asked me if I knew anything about suicides in PCG. I explained all the above to him but it never made the story.

I wish all of you who have come out the very best; that is what Jesus wants, "Come out of her my people least you share in her sins."

Kind Regards, --Dennis Fisher (Former PCG member)

Comment: Dennis Fisher was interviewed by Nick Winkler for the special FOX news report. Read: Special News Report on Philadelphia Church of God (Includes pertinent comments by ESN)

The Flurrys Do Not Pay Tithes:

December 2, 2008

All this talk in the news report about "tithing is voluntary." Incredible yet is the fact that the Flurrys themselves do not pay tithes because they believe they are the "holy priesthood" and should only receive the tithes. Flurry brags that the literature is "free" but he does not pay one penny into the system they've created. I know of many ministers in mainstream churches who tithe because they, as leaders, believe they should "set the example." --Former member

Blatant Lie About Third Tithe:

December 3, 2008

Here's a link in the Edmond Sun ("Church responds to TV news report") to a PCG press conference, about the Fox news story, that I wanted to comment on.

In the story they quote Shane Granger and say: "The third tithe is contributed every third year, Granger said, and goes not into church operations, but for the support of its widows, orphans and poor, taking that burden off public tax rolls."

This is a blatant lie, typical of the whole organization. This can be proven by reviewing the April 8, 2006 PGR. [This Pastor General's Report is in .pdf file format.]

Third tithe is 2 years of 7 years and could be written as 2/9th's or about 22%. Yet it is clear from page three of their PGR they only paid out less than 1% labeled "Assistance." Even if you discount that not every member pays third tithe, their payout should still be a lot more than that 1%, clearly something stinks. They are engaging in some sort of fraud at the very least. --V. W. (Former WCG/PCG member)

PCG Does Not Take Care of the Orphans & Widows:

December 3, 2008

I read The Edmond Sun news article and Shane Granger (PCG "marketing director") claims they use the 3rd tithe for the widows. The PCG does not take care of the orphans and the widows. All they do is separate families. We never saw a widow or orphan being cared for in all the years we were in that business organization. They don't help the community or serve anyone but the leadership in that group who are treated to trips and wonderful sites around the world and to lavish hotels, and meals.

One leading family in PCG with 3 children took a six weeks vacation in the West on the pretense that they were visiting the elderly. They only visited about 5 people and the rest was pure vacation. Some "business" trip I'd say. --Have loved ones in PCG

Mike of Mike's Enlightenment Page Speaks Out:

December 5, 2008

This is Mike from Mike's PCG Enlightening Page.

I want to say that I am ecstatic that there was more exposure of the PCG and there should be more everyday until any crooked, robbery ways are dead in the water! The film footage on that local TV station did an excellent job showing just a minimal part of the PCG leader's deceit and robbery of their followers (sheep).

As a previous potential member and follower, I was truly "brainwashed" by the PCG ministers and Gerald and Stephen Flurry themselves. When I asked questions after seeing that their doctrine and sermons did not match what was in the Scriptures. I was told to "stop asking questions" by Stephen Flurry (2nd in charge) and my pastor from California, Craig Winters. [Read: Mike's Exit Letters to Craig Winters]

Once they knew they had me mind controlled, they started to ask me questions about my children and, as I look back, I truly think that this is what they were after. My children mean everything to me and how dare they try to get me to bring them to California from Hawaii? This is where I had to draw the line.

I've done extensive research on PCG and I believe they are dangerous. All I can say to members and non members is be careful. They hide behind the name of a "church" so they can be tax free.

PCG robbed me of thousands of dollars, but most importantly, they robbed me of years of my life because they fooled me into believing their false ways! I lived their ways and their life thinking this was the only way to eternal life but, listen! The Bible says that JESUS is the only way to the Father and not PCG!!

I was so happy to see the news film footage and Lord, please help expose them further! PCG, I hope you get investigated and you go down. Stop ruining people's lives!! You are evil and not a church. Satan backs you up, and I rebuke you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for you and your evil agents to stay away from me, my friends and family, and those who are exposing you, like ESN workers.

Exposure is great! Let us all keep pressing on exposing until we close their doors like the WCG. Look what happened to WCG. They have been exposed and since HWA died, they are now a confused flock who are a semi-church and semi-crazy. I've been to a few of their services [in the past]. Wow, they are hurting. All the PCG wanted to do is pick up HWA's followers and their pocketbooks along with them.

Last note. Gerald Flurry was drunk on the Sabbath. Admit it PCG followers. This is real and it did happen. Why do you follow him and his son, Stephen? They are liars.

Ephesians 5:11.

From my heart, where Jesus lives, Mike

P.S. In answer to "Do Flurrys pay tithes?" I doubt they do! If they do, they would just re collect it.

I was influenced by the cult for years and surely paid mine, but days after I stopped, I was sent a warning letter of disfellowship.

After learning they were false, I stopped tithing and believe me they have computer programs that track who tithes and how much. If you stop, or reduce you tithes, you will be warned.

What does this tell you? They want your money, not you.

Comment: ESN posted Mike's Testimony in the past.

Challenges Presented to the PCG:

December 5, 2008

I read the damage control editorial on the PCG's web site and thought, this is typical Gerald Flurry. The whole piece is loaded with pejorative adjectives used to generate a smoke screen of the issues, such as: "outrageous attack," "slanderous report" and "fraudulent, completely illogical connection." I can almost hear him in my mind--yelling, almost screaming, as he says them, just as he does regularly in his sermons.

The reporter was fair in making the comparison of the Branch Davidians and the PCG in that the Davidians' beliefs are so similar to the PCG's beliefs. The reporter asked Stephen Flurry straight out and then aired his "no" response. Stephen even smiled when answering.

He, Gerald Flurry, then goes on to list all of the "churches" accomplishments, accomplishments designed to put a pretty face on a "church" that uses fear and spiritual intimidation to keep their members in line and extract their money. He lists, among other things, the 15 million dollar auditorium but neglects to mention the beautiful and spacious homes for the top ministry, built, most likely, with the lion's share of the third tithe that their Marketing Director says goes to the "poor, the widow and the orphaned." He calls the Davidians "perverse and violent," yet the only real significant difference between them is that the PCG does not stockpile food and weapons.

Gerald Flurry makes reference to a letter written by an anonymous former member. There is a difference between an anonymous source and an un-named source. Due to Flurry's no contact ruling it is not at all surprising that a former member would want to stay un-named, especially if he has friends or relatives still in the PCG. Dennis Fisher, however, was not "hiding at the end of a phone line," as Gerald accused. He was, rather, pictured and his name was credited on the screen.

If the PCG has nothing to hide, then I challenge them to stop destroying copies of sermons after they are played in the field congregations. I also challenge them to post their sermons on their web site. I then challenge them to open their financial dealings to the public. Until these challenges are met, I, for one, will hold them with the same suspicion that, apparently, does Fox 25.

Gerald Flurry also goes on to discredit David Ben-Ariel. What he says about him is rumored to be true, however, in the news piece, Ben-Ariel supported the PCG, and his only real criticism was with how to do the "work," and how to spend the money. If he had not been disfellowshipped, he would probably still be with them.

He tries to paint Fox 25 as having more in common with the Davidians than the PCG. What a ridiculous and spurious claim. Anyone with a thinking mind could see that slight of hand for what it is.

He then tries to say that the members of the church are aware of his police record. Nothing could be further from the truth. A few may be aware but most are not. I was a member of the PCG for over ten years and never once heard about it.

He then says that his congregants hold him accountable. Whom does he think he is fooling? If anything, he holds his membership accountable to him. Anyone who seriously questions his rulings or doctrines is either silenced or disfellowshipped. There is no accountability there. If one were to even try to hold him accountable, he would draw from the same pool of pejorative adjectives to paint that person, humiliating or disfellowshipping them publicly, that he uses to try to discredit Fox 25.

Thanks for all your efforts to expose these charlatans. --W. (Former PCG member)

Flurry's Ads Show His True Character:

December 5, 2008

With Flurry taking out these large ads it sure shows a side of him that says, "See what happens when you challenge me? I will huff and puff and blow your house down!!" I told my husband about GF planning on running these large ads for the next couple of days. He just shook his head and said, "Why not? It isn't costing him anything." He agreed that Flurry's actions are showing the public his true character. So maybe it is a good thing that he is reacting like this. I think it also shows what happens when members question him. He goes into an all-out rampage when he's challenged. He sure didn't call up Fox 25 and say, "Wow, Nick, I really didn't like what you said on that news program. Is there any way we can meet together and maybe straighten out any misconceptions you have with our church?" Nope. He just went and got the nuclear bombs and dropped them out of the sky. I realize that GF does have the right to refute anything on that program, but he's gone ballistic in his response. He's really over the top on this one. --M. M. (Former member)

PCG and Their Third Tithe:

December 7, 2008

I was talking with a good friend of mine from my PCG days last night on the phone. He reminded me of a situation that I had forgotten about regarding the PCG's lack of concern for elderly widows. My friend took a local PCG widow under his wings and used to go to her house almost every Sunday and help her by doing repairs, lawn mowing, painting, etc.

One summer her window unit AC went out. He approached our local minister and submitted a request for an AC to be purchased for her through the PCG's third tithe fund. The request was denied. My friend ended up just putting an AC in her house himself with no help from the church of "brotherly love," save one other member.

And yet, about that same time Gerald Flurry, Stephen Flurry, and Ron Fraser made a trip down to Austin to interview George Friedman of Stratfor Systems, the "great forecasting guru" that the PCG quotes a lot in the Philadelphia Trumpet magazine. They all stayed in the downtown Radisson Hotel, one of the most expensive hotels in that city. That trip surely cost a lot more than a window AC unit. I had heard toward the end of my time in the PCG that most of the 3rd Tithe funds went to ministerial salaries and perks like trips, auto funds, etc. I believe that is probably true.

Someone forwarded a copy of the PGR for April 2006 [Pastor General Report) that contained the expenses of the PCG for 2005. It showed that they had allocated about $79,000 for assisting widows and the needy. I've just done some math that shows that this is ridiculously low. The PCG has somewhere between 3,500 and 5,000 members. Everyone pays third tithes every third year in a seven year cycle. So lets divide 3,500 by 3 just to be conservative. That comes to 1,167.

But since the members' third tithe is twice in a seven year cycle due to the "7th year of release," I'll knock some more off since not exactly one third of the PCG is third tithing each year. I'll go with 700.

Now lets continue to be very conservative and say that the average tithing PCG member makes just $15,000 a year. If you continue with the math that would mean that the PCG brings in approximately $1,050,000 a year in third tithes. So over 900,000 dollars goes to someone, or somewhere, other than the needy, or at least it did in 2005. And again, I was very conservative in the numbers I used. It could be even more. --Former PCG member

Why Members Don't Challenge Flurry:

December 7, 2008

Surely Nick and the rest of the Edmond community are starting to realize how unstable this Flurry fellow is. I bet he has never run into a madman like this one before. I hope Nick now understands why Flurry's members' don't challenge him. They fear this same type of behavior from the pulpit. --Former WCG member

Comment: Leaders of totalistic groups cannot handle any kind of challenge or criticism. Flurry's massive ad campaign has probably been more of a show for the benefit of members. We all should realize that there is something terribly wrong when the totalistic leader of a Bible-based, high demand, apocalyptic group must go to so much time, trouble and expense to try and prove himself and his organization worthy.

Oppressive Controllers and Brutal People:

December 9, 2008

Flurry is showing his fragile ego has been dented. Oppressive controllers (mind-benders) do not like it when they feel they aren't fully in control and with how he is reacting with writing these ads makes me wonder if some within the PCG organization aren't also being dealt with severely for not having handled things better than he feels they should have done. Brutal people do not like imagined or real weakness in others and fail to see their own failings.

Sad too that the media does bring out some facts that are of concern about cults and after a little time things settle down and nothing really changes--the blind stay blind and the bully continues to dictate and isolate further (after initial showing for the world). We can hope that some members begin to think a little harder and a few may leave but cults just seem to continue on their way ruining people's lives as they do. --Impacted by PCG

Flurry's Auditorium Jewels:

December 11, 2008

I wonder how many widows and others could be helped with the amount of money it will cost to buy these jewels for the Performing Arts Center that is only supposed to be around for a few more years? Auditorium jewels selected. --Former PCG member

Comment: Flurry has not revealed the cost of the three crystal chandeliers or the onyx tiles to his members. This 15 million dollar building (patterned after Herbert Armstrong's Ambassador Auditorium) is also known as Armstrong Auditorium; to members it is the "House for God." Read: Gerald Flurry Plans to Build a "House for God"!

What Does PCG Do For the Edmond Community?

December 11, 2008

Does, or did, the PCG ever do anything for the Edmond community? I was thinking about my church and what Fox 25 would have said had they investigated it. Well, it would show the senior apartments that the church completely renovated and how they can have affordable housing (I think they only cost $300/mo. and that includes all utilities). They would have to report on the New Year's Day dinner when we hand out coats, blankets, and a free dinner to the community. They would have to show how we, along with other area churches, participate in food drives for the local food bank. We also have a sponsorship for underprivileged children in the area. We also help with the local shelters--there are so many things our church does, I can hardly name it all. But I can't ever recall doing anything of a sort for our local community while in the WCG. We, like the PCG, felt that people outside of the group were "the world" and somehow they deserved all the misery they got because they didn't follow God's Laws. I also recall many senior citizens in our congregation at that time. I remember one had gotten a small assistance when the senior home she lived in burned down. But she never said the church continued giving her support once she found another place to live. I know seniors were told to use "public assistance" avenues first for any kind of help! I know during the Feast when there was a senior dinner held at a restaurant, several WCG members paid for that dinner--it didn't come from the church funds at all. (The church I attend now would have paid for that dinner through church funds. They don't take up tithes and then only use them on themselves. They are used throughout the year to support not only the staff and the building, but many, many church functions. I know this came as a big surprise to me.) Anyway, I guess my whole point is this: If PCG has done so many "good deeds," why hasn't anybody in the local community stepped up to name them?? (I imagine the only people that speak up probably are church members that own businesses, or have done business with the PCG, like caterers or florists. But I can't imagine the poor or social services of any type would have gotten anything from them). Just a thought that crossed my mind today. --N. C.

Now is a Chance For Us to Do Something About PCG!

December 13, 2008

Like others, we are so excited to hear of the current breakdown of PCG. It's been a long time coming. GF is apparently rattled by it all and how wonderful that he is making a bigger splash of it all by retaliating.

PCG is attempting to patch up the holes from the approach of "the enemy"--as they would say, but with what? They are clearly unstable right now because of The Head.

Those of us who can, should email everyone we know--every church we know of, etc., to spread the word, pray, and literally blast the FOX25 news channel and the local newspapers with hundreds of emails and phone calls while these stories are still fresh in the minds of FOX25 news stations employees and major local Edmond newspapers, as well as the local people! I even feel that if we make enough of a presence we might bring in--with God's help--someone like Geraldo Riviera, etc., who loves a juicy story!

Now is a chance for many of us to do something that will have an effect! For so long, we who have been affected by PCG's family shunning rules have been held at bay by the tight cult as they continue to brainwash their members to fear outsiders, etc. This is a timely
opportunity to pull together to make our voices heard!

In your emails, mention and include the Exit and Support Network web link and anything you have to offer, to state your concern and observations of PCG's errors! The world and those with bigger voice opportunities need to know so they can prompt more probing into the PCG by government, state and local authorities.

I am starting by emailing ESN and next the Edmond news channels and newspapers.

Please contribute your love for the brethren by sending off some timely emails. Every email and phone call that spreads the word counts!

Sincerely, --"Praising God" for beginning the exposure of PCG's satanic activity.

Comment: This is certainly something people can try, even though PCG will rise to plead "religious freedom" and say that those who are protesting aren't "tolerating their religion." I would think that speaking out about their no contact ruling would be the most effective thing. It is this ruling that has caused countless loved ones to suffer.

Also, if anyone has a testimony about abuses suffered as a result of PCG, Nick Winkler of FOX 25 welcomes others (especially anyone in Oklahoma) to email him. Contact ESN and we will put you in touch.

Let Others Know the Reality about PCG:

December 13, 2008

I totally agree with the previous writer [see above letter]. We need to write these officials and let them know the reality of the situation. The no contact ruling I think would absolutely shock them. It's been three years in February that my family has had no contact. I wrote to Nick Winkler and also the anchor at the station who introduced that story. I also wrote Ray Hibbard who was the man who wrote the glowing article in the Edmond Life & Leisure publication. He totally missed it. He wrote, "I have toured the property. It is beautiful and the people are sincere and well meaning. They just want to practice their religion and be good citizens in the community. Isn't that what most churches want? Forget the particulars of their religion even though it is totally biblically based." Flurry does not have an accurate theology! It is not Biblically based. These people need to know this is not the church on the corner that anyone can just pop in and visit, as they would any other church in town. You must read Malachi's Message and be in total agreement that Gerald Flurry is "That Prophet." Then you have to be interviewed by a pastor; then you have to be invited. They need to understand that there is no public listing of where the congregations meet. That is not shared. They need to know that messages on tape [or CD] that may be played are then destroyed. This is not your mainstream Christian "church" as Oklahoma City and Edmond view church. But these others would not know that unless we share. The Flurrys never broached the no contact ruling. The new video that now appears on PCG's website is noted to "clarify church teachings." No it does not! It only slams the station, the reporter Nick Winkler, and again protests about how they were maligned with half truths, distortions, salacious details, disgraceful journalism. But until we speak up, all these folks will see is the glamorous facade that Flurry presents.

But we must be respectful and not angry. We cannot come across as "sour grapes" or "rabble rousing dissidents." We would then give Flurry credibility. But yes, I think we need to continue to speak up. Thanks for the suggestion. --A.

The PCG Mindset:

December 13, 2008

I think the main thing ESN can do is "expose" these charlatans and their works of darkness (along with providing resources for exiters) so that others won't get caught up in it. Even if we could free some people from the clutches of GF, many others would still want to be under his control (after all, "their salvation depends on it"). Most of the members will circle the wagons and wait for the latest word from "the voice of God" (through GF) to tell them how to think and how to respond. I remember during the California Receivership, how members truly believed they were being persecuted by the government, and they protected HWA--even risking their lives--and nobody could change their minds about it in the least. I had been told by those who were there at AC, how they refused to let the Attorney General in, and how they staged a protest by refusing to leave the facilities. (HWA was nowhere in sight. From what I understand, he was lying low in Tucson). These were young college kids doing this, and they were proud of it, and they believed with all their heart that they did this for God (and succeeded). I know the same mindset exists in the PCG. They believe that God is behind GF all the way, and they will protect him with everything they have. We, on the outside, know how these members are being mind controlled, but those on the inside don't understand it, and refuse to believe it. However, if just one person makes it out of PCG, it will have been worth it. --Former member of WCG

GF Now Playing on Members' Emotions:

December 15, 2008

Saturday's sermon to the PCG members was about the Fox25 interview. Members are now feeling like they are on high alert and that the time to flee is imminent. GF is, of course, painting himself, SF, and the PCG as the victim of intimidation by the interview, and using the interview to "prove" to the brethren that the "true church" is under threat.

Of course, those outside realize that this is only another of GF's mind games, similar to what HWA did in the past, to keep members focused on anything except the true cause for concern: where their money is going to, and what's being done with it. GF is also playing on the members' emotions to keep them off-balance and to keep them from discerning that the Fox25 interview raised some serious questions into GF's character; namely, his arrest record and his ridiculous attempt at bribery of a police officer for a mere $25.00 --Impacted

Comment: This is exactly what we expected. Criticism (exposure) from the outside only confirms in members' minds that they are the "true church" and that Satan is using "the world" to persecute them. GF is using all this to his advantage as HWA did. Members will draw tighter together and give more offerings than ever. Those who were in the WCG, especially in the 70's, remember the same thing.

NOTE 1-9-09: If anyone is willing to be interviewed and give their testimony regarding their harmful experiences with PCG (your face would be blocked out and your voice changed to keep you anonymous), please contact ESN and we will forward your email. Unless others can gain the courage to speak up and expose what is actually going on in PCG, many more will be harmed and evil deeds will be continued under the cover of darkness. Don't let fear hold you back. (I John 4:18)
